LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — An Indiana University fraternity has been ordered to shut down its operations for the next 3 years.

As reported by Fox59, a memo indicated the university issued the suspension to the Lambda Chapter of Sigma Chi following a hazing investigation.

Sigma Chi received a Cease and Desist Order related to one specific hazing incident that happened in November 2024. The memo didn't state exactly what that incident was.

However, an investigation by the university found the hazing was systemic, dangerous and egregious within the fraternity.

The memo also revealed hazing continued even after the fraternity was given the Cease and Desist Order, and fraternity members even tried to hide the hazing from the school.

The Lambda Chapter of Sigma Chi does not plan to reopen its house in Bloomington until sometime in 2029.
