LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Jefferson County Public Schools may take a bigger bite out of your property taxes.

The district approved a new task force during a school board meeting Tuesday evening. The task force will find ways to increase funding with a goal of raising pay at least 10% across the board.

"Right now in education, it is a battle to hire employees and to get the pay that we need," Dr. Marty Pollio, JCPS superintendent, said.

Pollio said the task force likely won't start meeting until the fall. He also said a tax hike wasn't imminent, but the task force would begin the process of discussion on increasing revenue.

Tuesday, the board also approved a change in boundary lines for Ramsey Middle school as the school is over capacity.

Some incoming 6th graders who originally would have attended Ramsey will now go to Carrithers or Newburg Middle Schools instead. Officials said the change will impact about 100 students.
