LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- JCPS Flash Dads surprised some students at another school to help ring in the holidays.
Dads from across Louisville stopped by Smyrna Elementary School Wednesday to get students excited to start their day. One dad said when he started about a year ago he wasn't a dad, and now that he is one it means even more.
"It's the best start to a Wednesday morning in terms of just positive energy," said Alford Beck. "Love seeing the kids happy. Get your work day going. I've got friends and co-workers on the line with me and I'll be like man that's a really good way to get the day going. It's the holidays. This time of year everyone could use a little more positivity."
Beck said some kids are shy and walk right through the lines of dads, but others are excited and high-five the days the whole way down the hall. Beck hopes the children see they have support from the community even if they don't have someone at home.
Flash Dads is a Diversity, Equity and Poverty program created several years ago with efforts to bring in positive male role models. The group has grown over the years.
Every school they visit each month is a complete surprise for students and staff.
