LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The deadline is quickly approaching for Jefferson County Public Schools families to complete school choice applications, and the district is giving families some help with the process.
The school choice application is the process JCPS families go through to register or apply for schools of their choice.
Tuesday evening, the district hosted an event at Hudson Middle School to answer questions and help families complete applications.
One important factor families now have to consider is transportation after the district announced last week that it will only guarantee busing for special education students and those who attend their residential school.
Those who may lose transportation include students who attend magnet schools, which is what one parent Tuesday evening had to consider for their incoming middle school student.
"It's already hard enough getting kids to go to school as they get up in age so hope they figure that out," Larry Hall said.
The school choice application closes Dec. 22.
If families have questions, contact the JCPS school choice office at 502-485-6250 or visit the website.Â
