LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jefferson County Public Schools will operate on its normal schedule Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025.
In a statement Monday afternoon, JCPS said there could be bus delays based on the condition of some side roads. The district thanked the public for its patience and understanding.
Students went back to school Monday for the first time since their two-week winter break, but JCPS was on a two-hour delay because of concerns about the condition of side roads and bus stops.Â
JCPS spokeswoman Carolyn Callahan said the district did not opt for NTI, or virtual learning, for two reasons: one, because several students did not have access to devices coming off of break, and two, for many students, it marks a new semester and didn't feel students starting new classes would be beneficial.Â
The district will ask the board of education to forgive five of its six snow days. JCPS builds in five snow days to its calendar. The sixth snow day will need to be made up, but JCPS hasn't set a date for that to happen.Â
By late afternoon Monday, the WDRB Snow Fox had just a few school delays for the rest of week. Click here to see the complete list.Â
