LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Lanesville Community Schools will welcome students back to class on Thursday.
Superintendent Ryan Apple said teachers and staff are excited to welcome kids back to school after the summer break.
As of right now, the district only has one teaching position unfilled, and all bus routes are covered.
The next challenge will be keeping up with the area's rapid population growth.
"We see a potential building project in our future and that's got a lot of excitement in our area," Apple said Wednesday. "We know that we are at max capacity. We don't have an empty classroom anywhere in our current facility, and we don't have anywhere in our footprint to add additional classrooms on."
Right now, Apple said, architects are drawing up plans for a new primary school and a new high school.
The district is in the very early planning stages and will be hosting community meetings starting this fall about future construction.
