LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Students at Fairdale High School's public service academy participated in a mass causality simulation Wednesday.
It's an annual event where students get real-life training acting as firefighters, police, nurses and more. This year's simulation was a mock road-rage crash using a school bus and car as props.
Makeup artists also transformed participants into accident victims. Students were able to douse flames, rescue victims, treat patients and make arrests.
"This is to give them real-life experiences and hopefully it helps lead them into a career," said Rob Barrett, fire science instructor at Fairdale High School.
Local nonprofit SOS provided the medical supplies and equipment. The nonprofit has donated more than $30,000 of supplies over the years to the program.
