LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jefferson Community Technical College is offering young adults a chance to explore different career paths through its Trades Exploration program.
Students who enroll in the program will attend eight 4-hour classes in a series funded by Kentuckiana Works.
The classes are offered a few times a year.
On Thursday, students in the "Cooking Up A Career" class learned about the culinary industry while baking Valentine's Day cookies in the basement of the Jefferson Health Sciences Hall.Â
"This is important for people, so they can get a taste of the different fields so they can get the hands on knowledge to decide if that's something they are interested in," said Gina Embry, workforce manager at JCTC.Â
Students can also sign up to explore careers in HVAC, construction, culinary arts, plumbing, industrial maintenance, welding, automotive, computer and information technologies.
Students 18-24 interested in more information can call the Youth Opportunities Career Center at 502-574-4115.
