LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- No child should eat alone. That was the message began an event at a Louisville school on Friday.

The national program "No One Eats Alone" visited Meyzeek Middle School.

Students participated in activities and discussions about including others. The goal of the program is to prevent kids from feeling isolated.

According to organizers, social isolation can lead to bullying, self-harm and community violence.

"Like if you see a person alone, you talk to them, you make them feel welcome," Nihal Ahmed, a 7th grader, said. "Because some people, they don't talk to anybody due to them being shy, due to just awkwardness. So I just want everybody to feel like they belong here and feel like they can talk to anybody they want."

The "No One Eats Alone" program is set to visit schools across Kentucky while reaching over 100,000 kids.
