LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Thousands of first-year University of Louisville students, parents and volunteers flooded campus Thursday for move-in day.
Students said they spent the day unpacking and decorating. Most also met their roommate for the first time.
Freshmen will have a few days of orientation before the school year officially kicks off. Other students will keep moving in through the weekend.
Volunteers take carts to students' cars, take everything to their dorm and help them unload. Then, they repeat the process.
"I'm excited," said Ethan English, a member of the campus ministry. "I got all my people here helping me. I want to show them kindness and welcome them to UofL. They're really nervous, and I remember when I moved in as a freshman I was super nervous, so just want to welcome them and help them out. I know it can be a lot here at UofL moving in for the first time."
Classes start Monday.
