LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- More than a 100,000 students around Louisville will be out of school for summer in the coming weeks. Those students have plenty of opportunities for fun and learning this summer around the city.Â
Louisville Parks and Recreation
Parents can register their children for camps led by Louisville Parks and Recreation. There are a variety of camps around the Louisville area.
Jefferson Memorial Forest Summer Camp is offered for ages 7 to 15 featuring summer fun and nature-based science education activities.Â
Beechmont Summer Camp is eight weeks for children 6 to 12 years old. Breakfast packs, lunch and snacks are included.
Cyril Allgeier Summer Camp includes sports, games, crafts and swimming. Free breakfast, lunch and a snack will be provided by Dare to Care.Â

Smoketown Community Summer Basketball
Boys and girls looking to play basketball can register for a free basketball program at Meyzeek Middle School. The Smoketown Community Summer Basketball Program will be held on June 3-6 and June 10-13.
It goes Mondays through Thursdays from noon to 2:30 p.m. for children 7 to 16 years old. The camp will host up to 50 children.
Lunch will be provided each day. Special guest coaches and speakers will be in attendance daily.Â

Cabbage Patch summer camps
Cabbage Patch Settlement House offers $25 camp options for children 8 years and older. The Louisville nonprofit offers various themes at the camps from dance to horses and college tour camp for teenagers.Â
The camp includes lunch and is offered Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting June 3.
There is also scholarship opportunities.
Cabbage Patch also offers free half-day academic summer programs for second to sixth graders. It goes from 8 a.m. to noon and includes breakfast and lunch.
There are also free activities for children who are registered from noon to 6 p.m. each weekday from June 3 to July 26.

Cultural Pass
While it's not a summer camp, the 2024 Cultural Pass encourages creativity, new experiences and learning. It's offered to people 21 years old and younger and their families around the Louisville area.
Participants have access to more than 50 venues, free of charge, from June 1 through Aug. 4.Â
People can pick up their pass in person at a local library. Participants must be eligible for a library card from Louisville Free Public Library, the Bullitt County Public Library, Charlestown-Clark County Library, Floyd County Public Library, Harrison County Public Library or Jeffersonville Township Library.Â
Some of those venues people can visit include the Frazier History Museum, Louisville Zoo, Muhammad Ali Center, Kentucky Derby Museum, Falls of the Ohio State Park, Speed Art Museum, Roots 101 African American History Museum, Waterfront Botanical Gardens and more.Â

Summer Reading Program 2024
Louisville Free Public Library will lead its annual summer reading program. The curriculum is divided by age groups from 0 to 5 years old, 6 to 12 years old, 13 to 17 years old and 18 years and older.Â

JCPS summer learning programs
The state's largest school district will offer numerous opportunities for students to learn through interactive programs this summer. The programs are designed for students to grow academically, socially, emotionally and behaviorally.
JCPS will partner with community organizations like Evolve502 to develop and implement various camps and experiences.Â
JCPS and the YMCA Childcare Enrichment Program (CEP) offers full-day care during summer break.Â

Bullitt County Public Schools' programs
The school district in Bullitt County is offering a variety of programming, including the Summer LEAP program, which provides additional opportunities for first and second grade students to improve literacy. It's available via invitation only.
The Waterford Reading Academy is a pre-K to second grade supplemental learning program for math, reading and science.Â
Read With Your Teachers Days will be June 4, June 18, July 9 and July 23 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Bullitt County Public Library Mt. Washington Branch.Â
Smoketown Community End of School Resource Extravaganza
The first-ever Smoketown Community End of School Resource Extravaganza will be held on June 8 from noon to 4 p.m. at Meyzeek Middle School.
There will be music, food, games, mobile health screenings, along with community and school resource vendors.Â
