LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A notable University of Louisville alumnus is set to take the stage at this weekend's commencement ceremony.
UofL announced Monday that Bill Ready, CEO of social media platform Pinterest, will deliver the commencement address the university's morning and afternoon graduation ceremonies.
The role of delivering the address is typically reserved for UofL's president.
Ready is a Kentucky native and first-generation graduate of UofL's College of Business in 2001. He was promoted to Pinterest CEO in 2022 after serving as COO of PayPal and the president of Commerce, Payments and Next billion Users at Google.
"Graduation is one of those moments where you’re proud of what you’ve done, but you’re also standing right at the edge of a lot of unknowns and a lot of opportunity," Ready said. "To be invited back to be a part of that moment with all of these students is truly an honor."
UofL's commencement ceremony is Saturday, May 9. The morning ceremony is at 10 a.m. and the afternoon ceremony is at 3 p.m. Click here for the full schedule.
