LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- University of Louisville football players Chevi Lubin and Jerry Lawson, along with mascot Louie the Cardinal, visited Jacob Elementary School Tuesday for a holiday pop-up shop.
Students picked out 2–3 pieces of UofL athletic gear to give as gifts to family members and received small holiday presents.
Louisville Athletics staff and student-athletes acted as personal shoppers, helping children choose items for their loved ones.
Lottie Stockwell, senior associate athletic director for external relations, said the goal was to create a fun and empowering experience. “Seeing them think about what their loved ones would enjoy, rather than themselves, was especially moving,” she said.
The event was organized with Jacob Elementary athletic director Pittman Hunter and Louisville Athletics’ Alyssa Murphy, assistant athletic director for student-athlete leadership and development and inspired by the local nonprofit Jarret’s Joy Cart.
