LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) — A group of Louisville high school students wrapped up their summer by showing off new business and technology skills they learned through a program at the University of Louisville.
Tenth and 11th grade students in the Whitney M. Young Scholars program presented projects Friday during the fifth annual Digital Transformation Academy at UofL's Thornton's Academic Center.
The academy is a partnership between the University of Louisville's College of Business and the Lincoln Foundation. The free, two-week summer program introduces the students to topics like data analytics, digital strategy and innovation.
Students also earned professional credentials, including Google Analytics certifications, to help build their resumes and figure out their future career paths.
"I've never really been into business, but this program really got me excited about business and entrepreneurship and really made me think about a possible future in a field like this," said student participant Joshua Estrada.
Founded in Louisville, the Whitney M. Scholars program helps academically talented students from grades 8-12 prepare for higher education through year-round academic and leadership programs.
