LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Elizabethtown Police Department is warning of a new scam involving fake QR codes.

An official-looking gift card is being found in Amazon packages, but it's a scam.

The packages are apparently showing up unsolicited or are actual orders from third-party Amazon sellers.

They include a note with a QR code to find the sender, claim a reward or leave a review. Scanning it can lead to fake login pages or software that will steal personal and financial information.

If you receive a package you didn't order, don't scan the QR code or click any links and report it to Amazon.
