LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The road signs and traffic headaches are gone and River Road is back in business ahead of schedule.
After nearly seven months of construction, the Louisville Water Company said crews have installed 100% of the pipe along River Road from the treatment plant in Crescent Hill, down Zorn Avenue, to the water company's treatment plant in Prospect.
Last week, crews finished paving and striping the area near Wolf Pen Branch Road.
Two 24-inch residual lines were installed to remove byproducts from the water treatment process. The lines replaced the aging line built in 1971. The water company said the two new lines will provide "increased redundancy." The system is critical to daily water production at the Crescent Hill treatment plant.
The two-year Residual Line Project began in March.
While the project continues into 2026 with restoration work and construction at the Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant, much of the work going forward will not affect traffic on River Road. The water company said that work will wrap up in the spring, with a goal of finishing the project by the summer.
