LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A portion of River Road is limited to local access only this week as a construction project continues.
The Louisville Water Company is replacing aging pipes on River Road and entered a new phase several weeks ago. The two-year construction project launched by the Louisville Water Company, is set to span from Zorn Avenue to Prospect.
According to a news release, work on Zone 2 will take place between Blankenbaker Lane and Lime Kiln Lane. There will be staggered barricades to provide residents with access at the intersection of River Road and Lime Kiln Lane, along with Blankenbaker Lane.
Crews are moving further east this week. They'll be working between Boxhill Lane and Woodside Road.
People are encouraged to use Blankenbaker Lane to access Knights of Columbus, Rivers Edge Road, Waterglen Place, Longview Lane and Boxhill Lane.
People should use Lime Kiln Lane to access Virginia Chance School and all neighborhood streets east of Boxhill Lane up to Lime Kiln Lane.
Work in Zone 2 is expected to last three to six months. The goal is to finish most of the work by next summer.
The Louisville Water Company expects the project to take about two years to complete. In ideal weather conditions, the company aims to lay about 200 feet of pipe per day.
