LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Thirty percent of pipe has been installed on a River Road construction project.
A two-year construction project aimed at replacing water pipes on River Road is causing headaches for businesses. The project, launched by the Louisville Water Company, is set to span from Zorn Avenue to Prospect. It began in early March, but the impact on businesses along the route was felt immediately.
This week, there will be limited access on River Road between Blankenbaker Lane and Lime Kiln Lane. According to a news release, there will be staggered barricades at the intersection of Lime Kiln Lane and River Road to provide access for residents and visitors.
Work in Zone 2 is expected to last three to six months, according to a news release. The goal is to finish most of the work by next summer.
The Louisville Water Company expects the project to take about two years to complete. In ideal weather conditions, the company aims to lay about 200 feet of pipe per day.
