LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man was arrested in connection with a woman stabbed to death earlier this month in Louisville's Chickasaw neighborhood.

Donald Lee Smith, 55, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder (domestic violence).

Louisville Metro Police officers were called just after 7 p.m. Aug. 6 to the 1000 block of South 38th Street on a report of a stabbing.

When police arrived, they found a woman inside an apartment who had been stabbed.

The woman, later identified as 53-year-old Kimberly Alexander, was taken to UofL Hospital with serious injuries, where she later died.

Court documents state that Smith and Alexander were previously "intimately involved."

Smith is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.
