LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A warmer spring in the forecast may trigger a longer allergy season.
The Farmer's Almanac is forecasting warmer and wetter than average spring conditions for much of the country.
That kind of weather pattern can trigger terrible allergies for millions as flowering plants have more time to produce and release pollen.
"Seasonal allergies seem to be increasing with time," said Dr. Tiffany Owens with Ohio State University. "One of the hypotheses for this is that we actually are having less differentiation between our seasons as the global temperature is rising. And so people don't necessarily get that relief that they used to have in between season changes."
Allergists recommend that you start treating your allergies about a month before the trouble usually begins.
They also recommend going outside during times when there's less pollen in the air.
