LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- As we inch closer to the end of summer, sneezing, sniffling, and coughing can be heard across offices and school buildings.
Fall allergies are real! And for a lot of us, it's tough to shake the symptoms.
Dr. Ashley Ciliberti with Family Allergy and Asthma joined WDRB Mornings on Friday to give some tips and tricks on how to tackle on the fall allergy season.
Doctors say if your symptoms last more than a week or two and go away, it's likely viral. If it lasts weeks and comes back around the same time every year, it's most likely allergies.
"Right now, the biggest thing you'll see on pollen counts is ragweed. It starts around the end of summer and lasts through the end of October," Ciliberti said. "The first hard frost is when that's going to stop."
The best way to manage allergies is to avoid what you're allergic to the best you can, and if you don't know, you can do an allergy test.
Over the counter antihistamines and nose sprays can also help.
