LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A film produced by Fern Creek High School students opened the Louisville International Festival of Film.

The movie is called "A Perfect Blemish" and is about a girl who loses her boyfriend in a car crash and her attempts to move on with her life.

The students produced, shot and star in the film, directed by Fern Creek film teacher T'Shombi Basemore.

Students got to walk the red carpet Thursday evening for the movie's premiere at the Muhammad Ali Center, kicking off the film festival.

"I was in the car on the way here, and I was like 'Oh my gosh, I'm finally in a film festival,'" FCHS student Madison Ramos said. "This is such a big part of my life, such a big achievement that I've made it here."

The festival spotlights independent filmmakers from all over the world, with everything from documentaries to animated movies.

Entries came from more than a dozen countries and showcase a variety of cultures, traditions and nationalities.

The film festival runs through Saturday. For a list of films, times and ticket information, click here.
