LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A former Bardstown police officer who was under investigation has been indicted on drug charges.

KSP Trooper Jeff Gregory says that former Bardstown Police officer Tony Satterly was indicted "on obtaining a controlled substance by a misrepresentation, fraud or forgery."

Kentucky State Police and the Bardstown Police Department have been investigating Satterly since February.

When the internal investigation was made public, Police Chief Rick McCubbin was quick to squash rumors that Satterly was tied in any way to the death of fellow officer Jason Ellis.

In February, McCubbin told WDRB that Satterly has been a Bardstown patrol officer for nearly 20 years and was a colleague and friend to Ellis.

Satterly resigned earlier this month as a result of the investigation.
