LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Dave Greenwell, the former Bullitt County sheriff, recently took over the is now the new Pioneer Village Police Department, a small community just east of Interstate 65 in Bullitt County.
The city of Pioneer Village confirmed Friday that Greenwell became the new chief June 3, leading a department that has six officers.
Greenwell served as sheriff in Bullitt County from 2011-17. He resigned in the middle of his second term after he was indicted on charges of hindering a federal drug investigation. But he was acquitted of the charges in a 2018 trial.
He had also worked at the Bullitt County Jail as a chief deputy.
Greenwell replaces DJ Reynolds, who died last month.
