LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new resource opened Friday morning to help make Christmas bright for the homeless in Louisville.
Miracle on Broadway is a free Christmas store presented by Wayside Christian Mission. The store is open to the homeless and the needy to help provide toys and gifts for their children this Christmas.
Parents were required to submit applications in advance, and more than 500 were given a scheduled time to come shop this year. The store is located within Hotel Louisville at Broadway and 2nd Street downtown.
"It's just a wonderful operation," said Nina Mosely, chief operating officer at Wayside. "It's a wonderful community effort to make sure that folks who otherwise wouldn't have a Christmas do have a nice Christmas."
This is the 35th year for the store, which is run completely by volunteers.
Wayside is still looking for more volunteers to help on Monday and Tuesday next week.
