LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Indiana residents will continue seeing some relief at the gas pump.
On Wednesday, Gov. Mike Braun extended the suspension of the 7% gas usage tax for another 30 days. By law, that's the longest the governor can suspend the gas tax without a special legislative session.
"Making life more affordable for Hoosiers will always be my top priority," Braun said during a news conference.Â
Additionally, the governor suspended the gas excise tax.
Indiana's gas usage tax for May is 23 cents a gallon, and the gas excise tax's current rate is 36 cents a gallon. Wednesday's extension brings a 12.4% discount to the pump for Hoosiers.
Braun first suspended the gas tax on April 8 for 30 days.Â
