Half brother of man shot and killed in Bullitt County charged with murder

BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- The half brother of a man shot and killed in Bullitt County early Saturday morning has been charged with murder, according to Lt. Scott McGaha with the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office.

Police told WDRB they received a call around 7:15 a.m. that there was a deceased person in a home in the 100 block of Majestic Boulevard, near Hillview, Kentucky. Once at the scene, officers heard gunfire from inside the home and realized there was some sort of struggle occurring.

When officers entered the home, they found a man deceased from multiple gunshot wounds, who has not yet been identified, and made contact with two individuals who were detained and questioned.

McGaha said 48-year-old Edward Lee Alcorn was arrested and charged with murder. The other individual was released, according to police at the scene.

"They had the whole yard taped off and that car taped off. They weren’t letting any people come in and out," neighbor Shelby Brown said. Another neighbor told WDRB the area is always quiet, and they are glad there has been an arrest.

Alcorn is the half brother of the man who was killed, and told police he thought there was an intruder in his home, McGaha said.

Alcorn is being held in the Bullitt County Detention Center on a $1 million cash bond.
