LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Kenton County man thought there was an issue with his Kentucky Lottery scratch-off ticket, but he ended up winning $175,000.
Albert Turner, of Ludlow, plays the Kentucky Lottery regularly. He won $50 on a scratch-off earlier in August, so he decided to spend $10 on another game.
"I don’t always scratch them off, I just scan them," Turner said to lottery officials. "I scanned it (the ticket), and it said 'See Clerk Corp.'"
He thought there was an issue with the ticket, but then he scratched it off. The ticket revealed he won $175,000.
"I couldn’t catch my breath," Turner said. "I ran home and signed the back of it."
Turner had wins on all 21 spots, totaling to the game's top prize.
When he arrived home, his wife asked him why he was so pale.
"I hit it big, I hit it big," Turner said to his wife. "My heart was crawling out of my throat."
He later posted on social media that he had won the lottery.
"People asked how much, and I said '$1,000,'" Turner said.
Turner walked away with a check for $123,000 after taxes. The couple plans to take a vacation and pay off bills with their winnings.
Riverside Marketplace in Ludlow sold the winning ticket. The store will receive $1,750 for selling it.
