Kosair Charities July 19, 2021 soccer event

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Children took the field earlier this month for a soccer clinic held by the experts: players from Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC.

The July 19 event at the Lynn Family Sports Vision & Training Center was put on by Kosair Charities and attended by more than 50 children, players and coaches. During the two-hour soccer clinic, the kids took part in a mix of soccer stations and drills led by players and coaches from the two teams.

"Our goal was to provide a one-of-a-kind experience for these kids," Keith Inman, president of Kosair Charities, said in a statement. "There's no better investment you can make than in our community's children. Thanks to our donors, LouCity, Racing Lou, and Bridge Kids International for joining us to make this opportunity possible."

The camp attendees were from Kosair Charities' partner orgranization, Bridge Kids International., a Louisville-based global nonprofit using culture, community and connection to promote African heritage to support the well being of young people.

"It means a lot for us to give back to the community," Lauren Milliet, a player for Racing Louisville FC, said in a statement. "It was literally so fun. It had a blast. I was laughing the whole time. Those kids were so awesome."

"Personally, it's special to me being able to be a part of an activity/sport that brings people together of all ages/backgrounds/nationalities/and upbringings, to just have fun," said Oscar Jimenez, a player for Louisville City FC. "When you get to work with children and teach them how to kick a soccer ball or dribble around cones for the first time, to visibly notice them laughing, smiling and having a joyful time is heartwarming. You never know what kind of troubles, if any, they may be going through. So to have an opportunity for at least an hour or so of the day to provide some excitement to them, we are all for it!"
