LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WFIE) — Indiana's Medicare and Medicaid programs will temporarily stop enrolling new providers for dozens of services beginning Aug. 1.
The Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) announced last week it received approval from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid services to implement the suspension on several home and community-based services waiver providers.
This will include services falling Indiana PathWays for Aging, Health and Wellness, Traumatic Brain Injury, Community Integration and Habilitation and Family Supports waivers.
State officials said the six-month moratorium is meant to address services considered at high risk for waste, fraud and abuse. IHCP also has the option to extend the moratorium in six-month increments.
Among services included in the ban are Adult Family Care, home-delivered meals and respite care services. Click here for a full list.
Providers and applicants also have the option to submit a request for an exception if they meet "all provider qualification requirements for service provision."
