LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jeffersontown leaders said changes are needed at Veterans Park to deal with vandalism.

A public meeting held Tuesday evening focused on coming up with solutions to stop damage to restrooms at the park.

There was also a discussion about what to do about people playing basketball during city events. Some potential solutions floated include installing more cameras, or taking down the basketball goals.

City leaders said the park is too expensive to let it be damaged.

"Veterans Park is costing about $3 million, is what it costs, and we cannot let this park be destroyed," Jeffersontown Mayor Carol Pike said. "And the city of Jeffersontown provides their citizens with such a great park and it's not fair that they cannot enjoy the park."

In the end, officials agreed to setting up more surveillance at the park to hold people accountable.
