Jeffersonville marina renovation expected to cost $2 million

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The renovation of Jeffersonville's marina is expected to cost $2 million.

The project would include a complete overhaul of the existing boat docks, increase the number of slips, and add a new fishing pier that would extend 200 feet out into the river.

Mayor Mike Moore says funding is in place -- he just needs one more thing to make it happen: "This will transform our riverfront into a destination point. But we need the support of our city council. I hope they agree with me that we can no longer accept the conditions of our boat docks and the river's edge as we see it here today."

Moore is urging the city council to take up the measure at its next meeting. He hopes to have the project complete by late fall in 2014.
