LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Bullitt County judge set a $2 million bond for the woman charged with shooting and killing her two young sons Wednesday.
Tiffanie Lucas, 32, appeared in court from jail Thursday morning via video conference on two counts of murder.
In setting the bond, Judge Jennifer Porter said Lucas is a danger to others. Lucas pleaded guilty to a drug charge in 2018.
She was arrested Wednesday after a neighbor found the children, ages 6 and 9, with gunshot wounds in a bedroom of the home on Bentwood Drive and called 911. According to the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office, it happened just after 11 a.m. in the 200 block of Bentwood Drive in a residential area near Shepherdsville. Both boys were rushed with a police escort to Norton Children's Hospital in downtown Louisville, where they died.
On Thursday, candles and teddy bears were set outside the home.
"It really gets to you. It really tears you up. It's really sad," said Kimberly Smith, who contributed to the makeshift memorial. "I felt like I had to let them know — in spirit or not, let their family know — that we're praying for them and hope that they get through this. It's going to be a long hard road, but we're praying for them.
"I knew I wasn't the only one feeling the pain for their family."
Lucas is scheduled to be back in court next week.
