LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A federal judge has ruled in favor of Kentucky and 18 other states in a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s changes to federal housing funding.
The decision will release more than $21 million in previously withheld funds for housing programs in the commonwealth.
Gov. Andy Beshear joined the lawsuit in November, which opposed proposed changes to the Continuum of Care program.
The changes would have limited states to a 30% cap on funding for permanent supportive housing projects. They also would have required states to reapply for money already approved by Congress in 2024.
The funding helps keep families with children, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities housed. Officials say the judge’s ruling ensures these programs can continue without interruption.
