LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Firefighters from Kentucky's Forestry Division are heading west to lend a hand with the battle against wildfires in California.
Eleven Kentucky firefighters will be part of a crew coming from Kentucky and Tennessee.
The director of the Forestry Division says she's proud that they volunteered for the dangerous assignment, but needs them back by September to get ready for fire season in Kentucky.
Firefighters across the country are assisting five western states this summer.
