LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Break out the fishing poles and camouflage, Kentucky fishing and hunting licenses are now on sale.
The 2024-25 license year starts March 1 and continues through Feb. 28, 2025.
In Kentucky, a license covers basic hunting and fishing for many species, but for other species like fishing for trout or hunting for migratory birds, deer and turkeys require additional state permits.
License fees did not change this year, but there's a new license offered this year called the resident Senior Lifetime Sportsman's License available for Kentuckians 65 and older. This license includes the hunting and fishing licenses as well as permits for trout, deer, spring and fall turkey, migratory game birds and waterfowl. The Senior Lifetime Sportsman's License is $180.
Licensing options and prices:
- Annual Senior Sportsman's License, includes all licenses and permits needed for a year, is $12.
- Youth Sportsman's License, available to aged 12-15 and covers turkey, and deer hunting, is $30.
- 3-year Fishing License is $55.
- Nonresident youth bear permit is $100.
- Nonresident bear chase permit is $50.
- Nonresident youth bear chase permit is $15.
- Resident combination bear chase and bear hunting permit is $50.
