LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Construction on Kentucky Kingdom's new roller coaster, Flying Fox, is underway as the park works toward its first new coaster since 2019.
Flying Fox is a $14 million, custom-designed roller coaster that will become Kentucky Kingdom's sixth coaster. It also has the lowest height requirement of any of the coasters.
The opening of the Flying Fox is part of a multi-year investment to Kentucky Kingdom of more than $33 million. Construction crews are currently working on the coaster's track and loading station.
"Our guests have been asking for new investments into the park, so it's really exciting when we can meet that demand," said Logan Sanderson, marketing manager for Kentucky Kingdom. "We do listen a lot to what our guests are saying about what they'd enjoy having in the park, so it's great that we have this new addition."
The brand new roller coaster will be 1,380 feet long and reach a top speed of 37 mph. It's set to open this spring.
