LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Giving birth is stressful enough, but one Kentucky woman said she went into labor while she was on the run from a tornado.

That's according to reporting from WLEX-TV in Lexington.

It happened May 16, the day severe storms that spawned tornadoes tore through Russell and Laurel County. Emily Jager and her family had taken refuge from the storms in the basement. They emerged to find out they had another emergency on their hands: Jager was going into labor, and the storms weren't over.

The family and neighbors cleared a path for EMTs to reach Emily, even as a tornado was bearing down on them.

"All of a sudden, I'm sitting here, and I go, 'I think there is a tornado right behind us,' Jager recalled. They go 'Yep, we can see it."

The family made it to the hospital, and after a chaotic three hours, Jager delivered a healthy baby boy -- with the wail of storm sirens wailing in the background.

"It was the most precious thing ever," Jager said.

Despite the chaotic three hours, Emily delivered a healthy baby
