LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police Post 4 helped spread holiday cheer this week, treating more than 100 children to its annual Shop with a Trooper event in Elizabethtown.
Kids arrived at Post 4 to meet the troopers who would be their shopping partners, then joined a police-led escort to Walmart.
The children shopped alongside troopers and volunteers, creating a lively, festive energy throughout the store.
After shopping, families shared a donated meal before heading home with gift bags packed with stuffed animals, books and other essentials. Parents also received gift cards to help with holiday needs.
"Shop with a Trooper is one of the most meaningful programs we participate in each year," Capt. Jeremy Smith said in a news release. "It allows us to build real connections with these kids and their families."
