LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- Hunters and fishers in Kentucky could see higher licensing prices soon — but there’s still time to buy at current rates.
The state is changing how it sets costs for hunting and fishing licenses, moving away from unpredictable hikes. Prices will now increase every other January.
As part of the change, license and permit prices are expected to rise by about 6% later this month, according to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife.
Anyone who buys now can lock in current rates. Licenses and permits are available online through the agency's website.
The upcoming 2026–27 license year begins March 1.
Officials said the change is designed to create more predictable costs.
