LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — This will be the last weekend to adopt a dog or a cat from the Kentucky Humane Society's East Campus on Lyndon Lane.
The adoption center will close at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 26, after 15 years. Officials said Friday there are still pets there to be adopted, and all fees are waived through Sunday at the campus.
The center is closing ahead of the agency's transition to its new campus off Preston Highway next year.
The location on Steedly Drive will remain open until the move is complete.

The new KHS Animal &Â Community Campus will be located on more than 5 acres of land on Orchard Avenue, off Preston Highway. It will replace the nonprofit's current facilities.
The plans call for a 54,000-square-foot facility with 7,000 square feet of covered outdoor space.
Leaders said the new campus is "designed to save more lives, serve more families, and strengthen communities" across the city and state.Â
Services at the new clinic will include a low-cost veterinary clinic, a 30% increase in housing for cats and dogs and flexible emergency housing for animals rescued from large-scale cruelty or neglect cases, or natural disasters.
Additionally, KHS said the new campus will bring most staff and services under one roof "for the first time." It will also include public education spaces and community outreach rooms and resources, as well as an expanded CARE-a-van program to reach more communities.
