LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is extending this week's overnight southbound ramp and lane closures, with an additional northbound lane closure starting Friday, May 8.
KYTC announced several I-65 southbound ramp and lane closures this week that are part of the I-65 Central Corridor project.
Due to rain, some ramps and lanes expected to reopen Wednesday, May 6 will stay closed until Friday, May 8, with an additional northbound closure also starting Friday.
Below is the updated schedule for the week:
- Wednesday, May 6 through Friday, May 8, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night
- Ramp closure from 1st Street (near the Chestnut Street intersection) to southbound I-65 (milepoint 135.3)
- Lane closures overnight on southbound I‑65 between St. Catherine Street (Exit 135 | milepoint 135.2) and Arthur Street (Exit 134 | milepoint 134.4)

This is all part of the work on I-65 that starts June 1 between downtown Louisville and the Watterson Expressway, which will close the five-mile stretch until Saturday, Aug. 1. Crews will be widening ramps to ease congestion during the two-month closure of I-65.Â
The on-ramp to I-65 South from 1st Street near Jacob Street closed Monday, May 4, and is expected to reopen by Aug. 1. In addition, the off-ramp from I-65 South to St. Catherine Street, exit 135, closed Monday and won't reopen until late this year.
During the I-65 Central Corridor project, three bridges will be replaced —bridges over Kentucky Street/Brook Street, Hill Street/CSK Railroad/Burnett Avenue and Bradley Avenue.Â
