LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Animal Services is sounding the alarm.

It issued a "Code Red" alert on Friday. LMAS said at least 57 dogs have been brought to the shelter on Newburg Road in the last five days. Several dogs were found running around town as strays.

But the shelter is running out of kennels and needs owners to come pick up their dogs. It's also asking people to report neglect, help your neighbors, and consider adopting a dog.

LMAS is open Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and is closed on Sunday.
