LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro 911 lines were down for about an hour Thursday after the system experienced "technical problems."

In a "Public Safety Alert" that was sent to cellphones in Louisville just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday, officials said people who need to reach an emergency operator should call MetroSafe Communications should call 502-242-8294.

Just before 4:40 p.m., another alert was sent saying everything was restored.

Louisville Metro Emergency Services is asking the public to stop calling 911 to see if it is working, now that services have been restored.
