LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) ā Hundreds of thousands of federal employees ā including airport staff, TSA agents and air traffic controllers ā are working without pay during the government shutdown.
Airport authorities around the country are partnering with food assistance organizations to provide emergency meals to those employees, including those at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport.
āI can't believe they're so gracious to us, but I am gracious to them for showing up for volunteer shift as TSA," Ethan Neal, Second Harvest Heartland, a food bank in Minnesota, said. "And we're just here to try to fill those gaps to make sure that these people can still stay fed and that their families stay fed.ā
The Louisville Regional Airport Authority said it's supporting workers by providing lunch while on the job.
