LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The government shutdown continues to impact air travel across major U.S. cities.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said several controllers called out sick this past week, which led to many flight delays.

However, officials with the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) said operations have not been impacted by the government shutdown.

"Here in Louisville and SDF, as well as Bowman Field, we've not seen any changes to staffing levels for air traffic controllers at either of our airports," Natalie Chaudoin, spokesperson for Louisville Muhammad Ali Airport, said. "Things are going really good here at SDF as well as Bowman Field and no changes here with our TSA staff here for SDF as well."

Airport officials said there is an increase in travel right now for fall break. They recommend getting to the airport ahead of time to allow for temporary parking lot closures.
