LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's animal shelter is sounding the alarm about limited space to house dogs.
Louisville Metro Animal Services said Wednesday it is still in a code red status and is running out of space, leaving some dogs at risk of being euthanized.
There is an urgent need for dogs over 40 pounds to be adopted, fostered, rescued or reclaimed by their owners.
The shelter said as of Wednesday it only has one kennel left for larger dogs, and six for smaller dogs.
From last Thursday to this Tuesday, the shelter took in 141 animals. There are 875 pets currently in the care of LMAS.
Those interested in adopting, or fostering, can visit the Animal House adoption center at 3516 Newburg Road. It's open from noon to 6 p.m., with adoptions running until 5:30 p.m.
