LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville nonprofit that fights against hunger received almost 14,000 servings of milk for people in need.
Dare to Care Food Bank received Prairie Farms lactose free milk gallons on Tuesday. Four large pallets were delivered to a facility on Fern Valley Road.
"With rising inflation and cuts to benefits like SNAP, a lot of our neighbors are facing food insecurity for the very first time," said Alexus Richardson, Director of Communications at Dare to Care Food Bank. "It's important to show up for our community and support them."
June is Dairy Month. Prairie Farm donated to 40 food banks across the Midwest and south. Prairie Farms said the donations were a way to honor dairy farm families who work tirelessly to provide milk and dairy products.
