LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Police spent Sunday getting unwanted prescription drugs off the streets.

LMPD teamed up with several Baptist Health, Walgreens, Kroger locations and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) across the city for the drug drop offs as part of National Prescription Drug Take back day.

On Sunday, 87 boxes were filled of unused and outdated prescription pills, totaling about 1,783 pounds of drugs that will be safely destroyed properly.

Louisville residents who were not able to bring their unwanted prescriptions, they can bring them to the DEA's take back day on Saturday, April 25. For a DEA collection site near you, click here.
