LMPD first responders near base of Lincoln bridge

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A death investigation is underway after a body was found in the Ohio River near the Louisville shoreline at Waterfront Park Monday morning. 

According to a news release from Louisville Metro Police, officers from LMPD’s First Division and River Unit responded shortly after 10 a.m. to a report of a body in the river near the base of the Lincoln Bridge, not far from the Louisville shoreline in the Purple Lot of Waterfront Park.

LMPD's River Unit located and recovered the body of an adult. There is no information on gender, race, or age at this time, police said.

LMPD’s Homicide Unit is conducting a death investigation. 

More information is expected to be released after an autopsy has been conducted.
